Failover Site Switch
About
Keeping a site available during outages, campaigns, or maintenance windows often means editors have to reconfigure the site's root page by hand. Editing the site's root property directly is error-prone and requires technical knowledge of the underlying content model — not something you want to rely on in a time-critical failover situation.
The Failover Site Switch extension for CoreMedia Content Cloud makes this a one-click operation directly inside CoreMedia Studio. Instead of manually reassigning a site's root page, editors can prepare a set of failover root pages up front and switch between them instantly whenever the situation demands it.

The extension enriches the site form with a visual Root Page Switch field that lets editors:
- Prepare Failover Candidates
Maintain a list of eligible root pages for a site (for example a live homepage, a maintenance page, or a campaign landing page) that are then offered as ready-to-activate options. - Visual Root Page Selection
See every candidate root page as a tile with a thumbnail preview (or a document-type icon as fallback) and its name. The page that is currently live is clearly highlighted as active. - One-Click Failover
Activate a different root page with a single click. A confirmation dialog prevents accidental switches, and once confirmed the site's root page is updated immediately — no property editing, no technical knowledge required.
The lightweight design keeps the workflow fast and predictable, making the extension ideal for failover, maintenance, and campaign scenarios where switching a site's entry point quickly and reliably matters.
The actions are seamlessly integrated into the CoreMedia Studio UI.
On the site form a Root Page Switch field appears in the site form, rendering all candidate root pages as selectable tiles with the active page highlighted.
